This goals blog has taken me so long to write for something so simple! I keep being distracted firstly by twitter and everyone else’s wonderful blogs. Then by making cookies and Conor coming home from work. More blogs to read so now I’m ignoring everything else and finishing it otherwise I’ll be up for hours!
Here goes, I’ve seen a lot of posts around where people have spoken about their goals for blogs. I think it looks like a really good idea. I’ve always had goals but I’ve been afraid of telling people what they are. I’m taking that next step and putting them on the internet. These are both goals for May both on my blog and in my personal life.
I want to post at least twice a week.
I’ve only been blogging for 3 weeks now and my original goal was to post once a week but I’ve found I’ve had the drive and desire to write and post more so I’m already upping my goal. Last week I posted three times, however, I think that’s a bit too much for me to commit to every week in my current situation so I’ll stick to twice for now.
I want to reach 100 followers on Twitter.
Numbers definitely aren’t everything but if you don’t have a goal why do you do the work? I need to up my engagement on Twitter, I’m still getting my head around what to post on there but I’d love to reach 100 by the end of May.
More on the theme of social media I’d like to reach 150 followers on Instagram.
Instagram is my favourite social media platform. I love taking pictures, I’m still honing my skills into getting better shots but I like taking photos and sharing them.
Sticking to Instagram I’d like to post more.
I try to post once a day but if I can I’d like to post twice a day. I love documenting things and taking photos in general. My main goal is to try and learn how to take photos of my make-up. As I’m hoping to become a Makeup Artist one day being able to share my make-up on days I’m happy with it would be wonderful.
So those are my main blogging goals for May.
I have a love-hate relationship with exercise. I love the feeling after I’ve exercised and I love seeing the results as I progress through and improve. However, I hate going to the gym. I know there are things you can do at home but my favourite things to do it weight lifting – so it’s a catch 22 really. Also, I’m really bad with consistency, I’ll do wonderfully for a week or two, maybe workout 3-4 times a week but then I’ll get busy, or hurt myself and stop again. So my goal for this month is to be consistent. Working out at least 3 times a week. As the weather is improving I want to start running and I’ve also downloaded an app that has quick workouts that you can do at home.
Read an hour each night before bed.
I read, a lot. I’m actually thinking I should change up when I post my book posts since I read so much. If I only post once a month by the time I get round to posting about the book I’ll probably have forgotten everything about it, or if I schedule the post the whole thing could be redundant. My first blog post – Wilde Like Me, I read the book months before that post actually went up.
But I digress. I’m terrible at shutting down at night before I go to bed. Even if I go to bed an hour before I plan to sleep I tend to be reading a book on my phone on the Kindle app, even though I have a perfectly good Kindle, or actually books to read instead. So this is a two-part goal I guess, read before bed more and don’t read on my phone.
So those are my goals for May. What are your goals? Let me know in the comments. Now I’ll leave you with a picture of the cookies that distracted me from writing this post. Let me know if you think they were worth it 😉
