Reading Challenge for 2020

If you hadn’t figured it out by now, I love reading. It is something that I’ve always done and will continue to do. For the past few years, I’ve taken part in the Goodreads reading challenge, which in essence is where you pick a number of books you want to read that year and track your progress.

Two non-fiction books I want to read this year. The Secret Lives of Colour and Color Theory for the Make-up Artist.

This year I want to try something different. Of course, I’m still going to set myself a challenge on Goodreads, this year it’s to read 50 new books. But I want to add something a little different into the mix. I love reading fiction so this year I want to mix it up a bit and read more books that will help me progress my career. Along with reducing the number of books I re-read this year. The number of times I listened to the Harry Potter Audiobooks last year I couldn’t count.

So this year, within my 50 books I want to read

  • 2 Classic novels
  • 5 non-fiction books
  • 2 poetry books
  • 3 horrors
  • 8 off my tbh read pile.

So technically that last one could be fiction but I need to start reading the books I have rather than buying more and more. My bookshelf is pretty full! And this number still gives me 30 (if my maths is correct) books left that can be anything. But I’m still going to try and broaden my genres and not read-only YA fantasy and murder mystery since I’d like to branch out a little.

I’ll post updates throughout the year of how my reading challenge is going. I’m looking forward to it!

Will you be joining me for this reading challenge? Or have you got one of your own? Let me know and keep me updated! I love getting suggestions for things to read. If you’re reading this thinking that you’ve not got enough time for reading, check out my Getting Back into Reading post for inspiration.
