Have you heard of Nuclear Lullaby? They’re an Alt-Rock band from Cardiff and I think you should definitely go check them out. I am slightly biased since my partner Conor is the drummer but don’t take my word for it. Go and listen to them the new Album Upset Sunset is available on Spotify right now!
Anyway, I digress from the point. Last weekend Nuclear Lullaby held an album launch for the new album Upset Suset and of course I attended. It was my first time going to an event like this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. As well as Nuclear Lullaby headlining the bands, Elk Child and The Caspians also played.
Doors opened at 7:30 and people began to arrive at 7:45 so when the first band, Elk Child went on a good crowd had gathered.
Elk Child is another Cardiff based band that launched earlier this year. I’d not heard any of their music before the event but I enjoyed what I heard. I’d recommend checking out their Soundcloud where they’ve uploaded some of their demo tracks. As well as their Facebook page to keep up to date with what they’re doing, if like me you enjoy what you heard.
The second band to play was The Caspians, as well established Cardiff based (I’m sensing a pattern here) Indie Rock and Roll, Blues band. Again another band I’d not heard before, I need to up my game! But I was not disappointed. It was very much my type of music. Again you should check them out on Facebook and Soundcloud.
And last but not least was Nuclear Lullaby. I wasn’t able to sit and watch their whole set as s0meone had to man the merch stand so my friend and I took ‘shifts’ so we could both watch parts. It was fantastic to watch and hear. The album was recorded and produced in our spare bedroom it was wonderful to finally hear the snatches of songs come together in a whole album. Like a Bird has always stood out to me as one I really liked, along with Some Say. And I must say the clever lyrics in Made Out of Plastic make me want to keep listening.
The atmosphere for the entire night was amazing. From the get-go the energy in the venue was phenomenal and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I think it was a true reflection of what this band can do. Their hard work both in creating the album and merchandise to organising and promoting the event really paid off. They’re definitely one to watch!
So go check them out! Right now, Upset Sunset can be found on Spotify.
You can also find them on
So go like, follow, listen if you like what you hear and just give them some support.
This turned into a much longer post than usual but if you made it to the bottom let me know, have you heard any of these bands before? Are there any bands you’re loving at the moment that you could recommend? I’m always on the lookout for new things to listen to.
